Wrapping expert recommends 1 method to make presents look professional

Some people are better at wrapping than others, but one woman said everyone can learn how to make their presents look absolutely amazing.

Mairita Forsu, 43, is the founder of Bijourious Luxury Gift Wrapping Service, and likes to “create the kind of wrapping that makes people gasp before they even open the gift,” which is what many of us aim for, but cannot quite replicate. But she reckons anyone can do it.

“With clients across the UK and internationally, I transform presents into luxury keepsakes,” she shared, because often her wrapping is so gorgeous, people don’t even want to unwrap what’s inside!

If you’re a little rubbish when it comes to wrapping, Mairita has some advice. She revealed: “Start by giving yourself permission to slow down. Beautiful wrapping is a little like Christmas itself – it’s meant to be savoured. Put on some cosy festive music, make yourself a warm drink, and turn it into a relaxing moment rather than a rushed task.

“Good tools make all the difference. Invest in the right tools: double-sided tape is my absolute must-have, a pair of sharp scissors are essential and will instantly elevate your finish. If you use single-sided tape, pop it into a tape holder – it makes a world of difference.

“With a bit of practice (and patience), anyone can create something lovely. And if it still feels overwhelming, that’s where Bijourious comes in. I am here to take that pressure off and wrap your gifts beautifully, professionally, and stress-free.”

When it comes to trends for this Christmas season, she said: “This year, Christmas wrapping is all about luxury meets personality. I’m seeing a rise in big, bold, deep colours like rich burgundy, deep forest green, navy blue, and warm bronze.

“Textures are making a comeback too – especially velvet ribbons and tactile finishes that add instant elegance.

“Interestingly, soft pastel palettes are also trending, giving us everything from soft muted pinks to dreamy winter mints, which means 2026 is wonderfully diverse. Whether you love dramatic jewel tones or dreamy, gentle hues, there’s something magical for every style.

“As a professional, my clients’ choices always come first. Christmas is deeply personal, and my job is to bring their festive vision to life.”

Mairita claimed creativity and personal touches go a long way, too. You should add details that show thought, such as “a ribbon in their favourite shade, a sprig of greenery, or a handwritten tag”. This will go the extra mile to ensure the recipient knows that you’ve put a lot of effort into the gift.

And it’s not always been easy for her either; there was a time where she struggled to get everything done to “perfection”.

She said: “I’ve always been a perfectionist, and even now, with years of experience, I still feel that little flutter of pressure to get everything absolutely right. If something doesn’t sit perfectly, I would take it all apart and start again – no one else would have noticed, but I would!

“Luckily it doesn’t happen often anymore, but that same perfectionism is what ensures every gift that leaves Bijourious meets my standard: if it isn’t perfect, it isn’t finished.”

The one wrapping hack that Mairita now can’t live without is double sided tape. “It’s my secret weapon for those clean, seamless, luxurious finishes,” she admitted. She also said that everyone knows not to touch her scissors, as they’re another essential part of the wrapping process.

“Good tools are the foundation of perfect wrapping – and they’re a non-negotiable in my workshop, especially during the Christmas rush,” she explained.
