Dog trainer says ‘king’ of dog breeds makes the best companion

A professional dog trainer has shared which three dog breeds he’d choose if he only had the choice to own or work with three. Will Atherton posted the video on his TikTok page, where he boasts more than 971,000 followers. In the video, the dog expert explained his reasoning for each breed, including health considerations and the ease of training.

Out of the three breads, there was one in particular that Mr Anderson even dubbed the king of all breeds, revealing that if he only had to pick one, it would be the popular Pooch.

The first breed noted by the dog trainer is the Cane Corso. The dogs are great companions that are known for being protective, smart and trainable.

Mr Atherton said: “I absolutely love mastiff breeds and all of the mastiff breeds, for me, I’d be torn between the English mastiff and the cane corso. If I had to choose, I’d probably go cane corso for slightly less of an issue around common health issues, a slight increased athleticism, which just lets them enjoy walks more.”

The next dog on his list of three is the German Sheperherd, which he describes as “one of the most fun dog breeds to train”. The high-energy dogs are also known for being smart, with the expert adding that “they can turn their hand to anything”. They also require a significant amount of mental and physical training to keep them engaged.

However, as with all dog breeds, there are some downsides to owning a German Sheperhed.

He added: “[The] downside for them is that they are prone to be quite excessive barkers, so if you’re not ready for that, that could become an issue for you in the future.”

The final dog, being the one in reality that the dog trainer would choose “if [he] could only ever choose one breed”, is the Labrador retriever, which he says “for me, is the king of all dog breeds”.

The video has more than 79,000 likes and 564 comments, with many people agreeing with the expert while also sharing their own top three breeds choices.

One person wrote: “I was rooting for the Labrador Retriever.”
